BYOT for the Digital Age Media Center

What is the role of the media center in today’s connected schools and learning communities?  The media center can become the hub for digital age learning for a school as the space is redesigned to support learning with Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) and online resources.  Media specialists, school leaders, teachers, and students may also have to shift their thinking about the media center as the storehouse of print materials and the media specialist as the keeper of those resources.  What are the possibilities for the reinvented media center?  Join the discussion of BYOT for the Digital Age Media Center in #BYOTchat in  Twitter on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 9PM EST with special guest moderator, Laura Thornton @LauraThornton24.  Laura is the District Instructional Technology Specialist for Forsyth County Schools, GA, and has worked as a media specialist in several school settings for 23 years.  One of those schools was also an early trailblazer in BYOT for Forsyth County Schools, and currently, Laura works to support media specialists throughout the district.
